The rapid spread of the novel coronavirus has sparked fears of a global outbreak, which is why Wuhan and some of its neighbors have been put into lockdown. 

新型冠狀病毒的迅速傳播引發(fā)了人們對該病毒在全球范圍內(nèi)爆發(fā)的擔(dān)憂。因此，武漢及其周邊區(qū)域均已被封鎖。

The move, unprecedented in modern times, speaks volumes about the gravity of the situation and the seriousness with which the government is taking the public health threat. This was undoubtedly a difficult decision to make, as it directly affects the lives of the millions of residents in the cities. 

這一現(xiàn)代史上前所未有的舉措充分說明了當(dāng)前事態(tài)的嚴(yán)峻性，以及政府對這一公共健康威脅的重視程度；這無疑是一項(xiàng)艱難的決定，因?yàn)樗鼘⒅苯佑绊懙竭@些城市里數(shù)百萬居民的生活。

But it will be conducive to coordinating regional and nationwide efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus, and ensure all infected people are properly treated and those that have come into close contact with them are traced, checked and isolated if necessary.

The government must ensure that all necessary and available resources are mobilized to bring this pandemic under control.
