Grade 8th Final Presentation

The first day of 8th grade was the day I placed my feet upon a winding road leading to a new journey. I trekked with a passionate heart towards my destination of novel knowledge and experiences. Various assignments and tests grow on the road, and fearlessly I trampled them and progressed on, ignoring bleeding feet and the pair of lost shoes. I kept on walking and never looked back, not when I below 80 on a math test, not when I couldn't collaborate with my teammates, not when I was crushed under the huge stress of overloading activities.  

At the end of each day, I promise myself that maybe tomorrow, life will be more tender. All mistakes are forgiven, because after all, tomorrow is another day. And as it turns out, life obviously didn't care all that much. I continued to step on thorns, the same way as I have done with all of them on the way here. 

Life continued in this fashion until after the Global Issues Day, when I was given a reflection sheet. That was when the realization dawned upon me, that never before did I understand myself and what I did. I never had enough honesty and courage to think back to my day and criticize myself for the mistakes I've made. 

Since then, I started to reflect on everything I do. Reflecting myself at the end of each assignment or each day has helped me obtain a clearer picture of my own behavior and a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses, so that I can learn from my own mistakes and take appropriate future actions.  

Reflection is a process that will aid ourselves on the journey of life. When in front of you is a seemingly never ending road, look back just to make sure the road you came from is still there. When you work on a project for too long and is too tired to go on, look back and see how far you've come, and be motivated to reach the goal. When you cry in regret over a mistake made on a test, look back, take notes, and never make them again. 

The meaning of life is to pursue and to surpass. If there is no reflection, improvement is but an empty word. Reflection allows us to find our weaknesses and patch it. Each attempt and each day will be a better one. I will start, today, right now, to be what I want myself to be. How? Through reflection. 
In the journey of life, there are those who choose to keep their eyes on the ground in front them no matter what. There are also those who would turn around and face the way they came, bend down, and observe the trail they produced, footstep by footstep.  

The high school is merely a bend, and we still have many miles to go, beyond high school, beyond college, onto whichever road you take. Stopping in the middle of a hike, what will you do?
