This is a picture book for young children and is one of a series about the church mice. “The Church Cat Abroad” is about a cat and his friends who happen to be mice. Sampson, the cat, and his friends live in a church rectory that has a roof that leaks terribly. A fundraising sign has been posted by them, but the money is coming in to slow. Sampson and two of the mice decide there must be a quicker way to raise the money they need. They decide that if Sampson was in a commercial they would have enough money to fix the roof. So Sampson and his friends go to an island to do a cat food commercial. Sampson is not a very good actor and the director is so disgusted with him that he leaves him and his friends on the island. The three friends aren’t on the island more than a few days before a scientist looking for rare animals comes to explore the island. The head scientist is not interested in the cat and mice at first; they are not rare, so the three paint themselves different colors to make themselves rarer. The scientific explorers take the animals back to England and to a zoo, where the three escape again and finally make it home. They are so happy to be home they no longer care tha...This is a picture book for young children and is one of a series about the church mice. “The Church Cat Abroad” is about a cat and his friends who happen to be mice.
