NASA is an organization under the control of USA government that often make amazing discovers. 
Even though on some events, NASA didn’t become the first, but they definitely did the best. First, they started to shine when the space race started during the cold war. When Soviet Union first sent a satellite into the space, USA president was furious and decided to create the satellite also. They assigned the job to NASA. NASA got a lot of pressure, but they did it after multiple tries. Soon they are trying to bead Soviet Union by being the first country to send human to space and get them back safely. They selected 110 men and tested them, eventually choosing 11 of them as the mercury eleven after their mission called Mercury. They are scheduled to launch soon but the Soviet Union bead them again by 2 months sooner. American government was angry but they still finished the Mercury mission. Later, they sent many more astronaut to the space. Then, Kennedy thought of another more crazy idea of landing on moon. This time NASA did it first, they worked only for 9 years and came up with the Apollo plan. The plan was crazy for that time but everyone hoped for it. Even though in the testing period, there are error and some death unfortunately, but eventually on 1969, the Appollo 11 was launched on Saturne V which is the biggest rocket yet and more than half a billion people was watching it, it’s also one of the most important advance of technology in history. When three days passed, the lander landed and everyone cheered, then a crapped voice from the moon says: “This is a small step for a man, but a big leap for the mankind.” 
When the Apollo program was eventually over, NASA decided to create space shuttles that will help people place and repair satellites, so they did, they even connected the Russian spacecraft Mir once. But when the Challenger exploded on a cold day due to the misfunctioning of the O shaped ring, the space shuttle planes stopped for 1 and half year while NASA trying to fix the problem with O shaped ring
