Monday, we learned about fingerprints and lipprints. We started with an ink pad and a piece of paper, and we were told about techniques on how to roll fingerprints. Then we did notes on types of fingerprints and the distinct features our ridges has. How to identify a fingerprint activity is also done. We were given an official FBI arrest fingerprint card to print our fingerprints, then we were told to oil up our fingers and push our fingers onto a glass. During the afternoon, we first learned about lip print features, then we did a lab on identifying a suspect's lipprints with the crime scene one. Then, we learned how to dust a fingerprint off the glass, and preserve it. After we got the fingerprint off the glass, we had to identify whose fingerprint is was. I got the person wrong. >_< sad... At the end of the day, we were given an hour of time to think of a plot for our own detective stories.
Tuesday, we learned about Chelioscopy and Chromatography. Chelioscopy is how to identify the elements that make up lip stick samples. Chromatography is the identification of the elements that make up ink/handwriting. We spent the whole morning doing labs on them. Afternoon, we learned about blood types and did notes on them. Then exam-A came in and we worked in groups with them on blood splatter lab. I worked with Phillip, and Andrew from the other class. The blood splatter lab is my favorite~ We learned about what a drop of bloos can reveal about a victim or suspect according to its position and shape. At the end of the day we were given time to work on our detective myystery writing again.
Wednesday, we learned about blood typing in the morning. We did a lab on identifying the blood type, and also did notes on Point of Origin. Point of Origin is how to decide where the suspect or victim was when the blood was spilled. We can decide the position and the direction the person was facing and if possible, he/she's movement. During the afternoon, we learned about DNA. We read this huge article on it and attempted to extract our own DNA, but failed. Then we learned about DNA fingerprinting, and how to send a DNA strand into a machine and line genes up. We did a lab on paternity testing, and finished the day off with an article about the combination of genes.
Thursday, we learned about ink chromatography more. We can now use it to match ink to pen, and also we did some notes on recognizing and matching handwriting. During the afternoon, we learned about voice recognition, and we watched a really long video about lie detectors and voice recognition devices. We had so time to work on our detective mystery stories again at the end of the day.
Friday, we learned more about voice recognition, and then we started to do notes on arson. There was 5 pages on notes on arson, and we did a lab on identifying the origin of the fire. We read articles on previous pivotal arson events, the ways someone would start a fire, and the reason or motive of arsoners. We watched a two hour story on a real life arson story, and we watched it with the exam-a class. The whole day we worked on arson, and at the end of the day Paige and Brooke gave us some ideas on improving them. Today is the dance, and the theme is super man. I didn't have anything to dress up, so I wore the same thing i wore last dance. I did the exact same things i did last time. The biggest thing that happened during the dance... Was that.... At the end of the dance, Anna asked me if I could go to the dance with her next thursday. I said yes......................................................................... And then Andrew freaked out during our sleep over and so did i.
