When Esperanza and Mama are forced to flee to the bountiful region of Aguascalientes, Mexico, to a Mexican farm labor camp in California, they must adjust to a life without fancy dresses adn servants they were accustomed to on Rancho de las Rosas. Now they must confront the challenges of hard work, acceptance by their own people, and economic difficulties brought on by the Great Depression. 這本書(shū)孩子已經(jīng)把音頻聽(tīng)完了！女主角的名字是西語(yǔ)“希望”的意思。孩子覺(jué)得有些情節(jié)還是很感人的。文中有很多西班牙語(yǔ)，每個(gè)西語(yǔ)詞后面都會(huì)有英文詞，我覺(jué)得非常好！為了顯得人物真實(shí)，人物說(shuō)的話都有點(diǎn)西語(yǔ)口音，對(duì)孩子來(lái)說(shuō)沒(méi)有什么影響，反而增加對(duì)不同語(yǔ)音的適應(yīng)性。
