This is a story about Shakespeare, baseball, wars, Wednesdays and seventh grade. Holling Hoodhood, the main character in the book, has lots to do with all of these stuff. He is the son of an architecture businessman who isn't a very good father. He is the brother of a "flower child". And he is one of Ms. Baker's students, Holling knew right away that she hates him. In my opinion, Holling is rather unlucky. But after each and every event unfolds, Holling starts to find that his life is not perfect, but good enough to enjoy.
I think boys would like this book more because the topics are more boyish. Though I find myself liking this book sort of like Holling with his life, not perfect but good enough. So just read it and see what you think!
